*StoryTime*
Act: I
Once upon a time there was a mighty man named Steve, know far and wide as a benchmark master.
Steve had all the good hardware, with graphs to prove it.
Then one day, something terrible encroached on these graphs.
It was known as *STORYBLOCKS* .
An intruder on the realm of the master race, it's intent quite clear for all to see.
The trolls all rallied, ready for war!
Grandmaster Steve was weary of battle, and vowed never more.
Reminding everyone of the RUclip apocalypse still fresh on the land.
They understood the reason and backed of the main man.
Act: II
Steve I love your content and all your efforts, I get the ad, it all makes sense and is understandable, It's fine.
I don't have to like it. I can deal with it(arrow to the knee, well arrows anyway), so meh.
To clarify to all you bridge peeps, *I* *like* *this* *channel* *and* *Steve* .
Just for the love of all, don't make it so everytime I see a teddy bear I think tunnelbear. I hate them now.
*THE* *END*
If you don't get it, move along.
One thing here, all those compared to 8th generation are actually 4 cores and 8 threads and not 4/4 as stated in the table. Other than that, good advice in the end.
Sry, didn't see the last part when commenting.
Can you do a ddr3 gen 3 i7 comparison. Using a 3930k or 4930k compared to current 6 core chipsets. I think the time lapse would yeild interesting results.
Lul this is more epic than the video. No offense steve :D
I sometimes overclock too
This is why I'm buying a new GPU and not CPU. Nvidia has made some great gains over the past five years but Intel's CPUs fail to impress me. Even some of the fastest on the market from 2017 to 2019 are only maybe 30% faster than my i7-4790k. I9-9900k is only theoretically 26% faster than an i7-4790k, but the GTX 1660 TI and GTX 1660 Super can match the performance of a GTX 980 TI, which was one of the fastest cards for gaming money could buy a few short years ago- and the 1660 TI is considered "mid-range."
The "entry-level" 1650 Super can match or out perform a GTX 970, which was a relatively "high-end" card in 2014-2015.
Why not use the faster, more efficient 4790k?
Where are 1440p benchmarks
No one owning a haswell board is going to be running a 1080TI.. You should compare results for something like a 1060 or equivalent
4770k and 4790k and 7700k are Hyperthreaded. So the info at ruclip.Com/video/Oc08ZPc30Zs/видео.Html is wrong
You've come to the wrong place.
Who’s watching this in 2020?
Red Dead Redemption 2: Hold my rum
One thing I've noticed is that whenever theres an old vs new intel benchmark, they never match ram speeds on both systems, the new chips are always run at much higher ram speeds
It would still be nice to see someone making a fair comparison, to show where the gains are coming from. For example, using a slow ram kit and a fast ram kit on both systems
Yep. Trying to run the RAM at the same clock speed would be unrealistic - if you upgrade from a 4770K to an 8700K (or now 9700K) you can't use your DDR3 with it, you have to buy DDR4 to go with it. Now that you're forced into buying DDR4, you're almost certain to buy a much higher speed RAM than you had with DDR3.
The 4770K was a beast of a CPU when it came out, and is still enough for 60fps gaming. Though if intel had actually made decent progress between 2013 and 2018 instead of milking the market, it would be utterly irrelevant by now.
Intel is responsible for their own misery. If they hadn't changed sockets every generation, we would have bought some of their newer CPUs. Now why would you put money on new board, new dual channel RAM kit, new CPU just for say 10-20% more gain. It isn't worth it at all.
Not only that, if they(Intel) allowed overclocking on every single CPU, at least they could have definitely kept a large portion of their userbase from upgrading to AMD Ryzen based CPU.
As Sir (Late) Yuri Bezmenov (A KGB defector post cold war) once said in his famous interview; "every strategy comes with its self destruction within it, it's only a matter of time when it's going to be responsible for self destruction" (not verbatim, but It was something similar). Intel is going to face exactly same fate, if they don't become liberal of today's time.
Bought Xeon E3-1246 V3 (i7 4770 non K) at $97 from AliExpress. Replaced 4 year old i3-4150. Best deal ever imo. Still there is no single game where 60 fps isn't possible on this Xeon at custom settings. I think I'll wait until Ryzen 4 series refresh or something.
Haswell is still good enough to play modern games
Wounder how this cpu will stack up against the new i7's or R7's, ♂️
Your chart was slightly wrong in saying the 4770k and 4790k have 4 threads as they do have hyperthreading.
Who here is trying to see if they can get away with running the new Microsoft Flight Simulator with just a GPU upgrade? 4790k here!
My computer is as follows:
I7 4790k @4.8ghz
Asus Z97 Deluxe
120mm aio
32gb 2000mhz ddr3
rx580 8GB
dual monitors 27" 1080p@60fps.
I play all games locked at 1080p 60fps, all games on epic/ultra/highest possible graphics settings. And in every single game i play, including Anthem which is extremely intensive, i do not drop below 60fps. I tried running this same setup at 4k to see what would happen and it was around 20-30fps depending on the title..
If all youre doing is running 1080p games at 60fps, you have not a care in the world with this setup. This cpu is still plenty powerful in 2019. For gaming, for rendering videos, for editing even 4k video.. The reason i havent upgraded anything in my computer besides the storage drives, Psu, and Gpu, in the past 4 years in because this system works perfectly fine. As long as you dont try to overdue it youre good. This system isnt gonna game at 8k ultra 240fps or anything dumb like that. But you can game perfectly fine. Id rather have 1080p with ultra graphics settings than 1440 or 4k at medium or low settings.
In 2019, would love to hear an update about 4770k. Ebay has them for $100-120
